3/3/08 SPCC Consolidation Updated:

ADA and SPCC Information Technology (IT) employees have begun to meet and discuss transition strategies to ensure a near seamless IT transition for SPCC licensees and the public

Also, Representative Crandall is working on an amendment on HB2822 that would keep structural pesticide regulations within Title 32, dissolve the Structural Pest Control Commission and creating the “Structural Pest Control Agency” under the direction of the ADA. Under this plan, structural pesticide regulation would be able to keep its own identity, while also putting its functions under the ADA, a Governor’s cabinet level agency.

The ADA is in support of this plan and once an electronic version of the amendment is available it will be posted on this site.

2/25/08 Structural Pest Control Commission Consolidation Update:

On February 20th, 2008 the House Commerce Committee unanimously passed HB2822, which would consolidate the duties of the Structural Pest Control Commission (SPCC) into the Arizona Department of Agriculture (ADA).

While HB2822 makes its way through the Arizona Legislature, the ADA is currently working on a Transition Plan to lay out the vision on how the powers, duties, and personnel would be transferred from the SPCC to the ADA .

The ADA is developing this plan with input in mind gathered at two public hearings, through e-mails received, and other comments regarding how structural pesticide management should be regulated under the ADA.
Summary of the comments the ADA has received regarding the transition.
