All eligible grant applications were rated and reviewed by an evaluation team, consisting of individuals representing the cattle and farming industries and the conservation community.
The department implemented a per applicant graduated funding cap on grant awards. The implementation of a funding cap allowed for a wider distribution of grant funds, and the award of at least one grant in each county represented by the applicant pool. Grant award funding caps were determined as follows:

What if a person approved for a grant award does not accept their designated funds?
The award is not officially complete until both the Arizona Department of Agriculture and the entity awarded the grant sign a contract. However, should the entity awarded the grant not wish to sign the contract, their portion of the funds will be returned to the larger grant fund for distribution during the next grant cycle.
