Citrus, Fruit and Vegetable Standardization
Who are we?
The Citrus, Fruit, and Vegetable Standardization program monitors and enforces the quality standards for all fresh fruit and vegetables produced and marketed in Arizona.
The program is entirely industry funded through license fees and carton assessments and uses no general fund monies. We work closely with a governor appointed industry advisory council, which meets quarterly and advises the program supervisor on all issues pertaining to Citrus, Fruit and Vegetable Standardization.
Under a cooperative agreement with the USDA, we also manage the Federal-State Inspection Service that includes shipping point and terminal market inspections with offices in Phoenix, Nogales, and Yuma.
Citrus, Fruit, and Vegetable Standardization continues to support the state-wide gleaning program -- a collection of wholesome food for distribution to the poor and hungry. This program gathered and distributed over 29 million pounds of produce during fiscal year 2004.
