Importation requirements for aquatic animals include:

  1. Prior import permit; issued by telephone; call (602) 542-4293 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MST Monday through Friday.

  2. An original certificate of Aquatic Animal Health that is based upon an inspection of the originating facility by a qualified fish health inspector within the 12 months preceding the shipment of the aquatic animals. This certificate or a certified copy of the certificate shall accompany each container of live aquatic animals.

  3. Transporters located in other states must be licensed prior to transporting live aquatic animals into Arizona. Contact (602) 542-4293 for licensing information.

  4. Arizona receivers of live aquatic animals (aquaculture facilities, fee fishing facilities and processors) must be licensed by the Arizona Department of Agriculture or be in possession of a aquatic wildlife stocking permit issued by the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
