AAPC

The Arizona Agricultural Protection Commission and Fund were established by the Arizona Agricultural Protection Act (AAPA), A.R.S. §3-3303 and §3-3304. The commission’s purpose is to award grants for the establishment of conservation easements to protect Arizona’s critical agricultural industry, productive land and open spaces.

Conservation easements with purchase of development rights can provide permanent protection of farm and ranch land. They are voluntary, legally recorded restrictions, in the form of a deed, on the use of the property in order to protect resources such as agricultural land, structures, natural or scenic lands, open space, and wildlife habitat.

As the owner of a farm or ranch in Arizona, please answer the following questions:

1. Are you interested in keeping your farm or ranch in production and preserving it for future generations?

2. Are you familiar with the financial benefits of conservation easements and purchase of development rights?
3. Would you be interested in learning more about conservation easements and purchase of development rights?
4. Would you like to visit with a farmer or rancher who has participated in a conservation easement and/or purchase of development rights?
5. Have you heard of the Arizona Agricultural Protection Commission or the potential for a state funded program to help purchase conservation easements?
